Beauty Monday: Speak Louder & Beauty Bloggers

Ok ok it's time to admit it! I've been on a Mac high lately. I don't know why I go through this phases where I absolutely hate makeup and think it's enslaving and daunting and I have way better things to do with my time and it's just really not worth at all it but then I rediscover how much I love it and become obsessed and can't think of anything else and I think it's brilliant and makes me want to play with colors and shades and it feels so good!

I've been thinking, eating, sleeping makeup and beauty products lately. I find myself saying out loud words like "creemsheen, matt, frost and dewy" when I'm going through my daily to do list or when I'm at the grocery store staring at food and its all a little bit strange for me. I mean, I didn't even know I had it in me, this beauty loving thing. I didn't start wearing makeup until I was like 18 or 19 but I often think 'Oh my! I wish I could be a makeup artist and spend my days talking about it with people who do care and understand what I'm saying' over and over again (My man, bless his heart, is clueless. But then again I can't ask a guy to know about this stuff or even give a rats ass about it).

That's why I've been loving Beauty bloggers so much lately. Everything looks so glamorous and pretty and girlie and I just want to buy everything they recommend. I've taken advantage from the fact that I'm STILL sick as a dog and spent hours peeking through all their blog posts, looking for swatches, learning about all the different formulas out there and more exciting, going out and trying out the products myself. Blogs like Viviana Does Makeup, Essiebutton, I Covet Thee and my latest addiction Lipstick With Some Sunshine which I featured on a post last week.

It was while doing my research that I stumbled upon this beauty. Mac's Speak Louder. A beautiful creemsheen in a medium-dark pink shade. I like that it has kind of blue undertones so it goes well with my NC 35 skin (I'm weird about pinks and reds with warmer undertones and how they look on me even though people say that for warmer skin tones they do look nice). It also goes on beautifully and is moisturising; it seriously lasts for hours even while eating.

I do need to clarify that I've always been a shy girl when it comes to lip colours. I tend to go without any lip products except maybe some Chapstick or go for the nudest nudes and soft pinks when I do want some "colour" on my lips so I'm working really hard on breaking out of my shell and trying to rock those bold colours I feel so drawn to lately. I've been testing this little guy on short trips to the grocery store or on a girls night out I must say it makes me feel like a million bucks!

How do you feel about bold lips? and what MAC lipstick is your favorite? I would love to hear some suggestions because I'm seriously considering getting a couple more.

Have a lovely week everyone!

I've been working on some branding

I had the fortune of working with some lovely ladies that contacted me a couple of months ago about developing a brand and logo for a new business they were in the middle of developing.

This is what Maria Teresa, one of the ladies and co-founder of the line told me about it:
11:11 Los Angeles is founded by Andrea & Maite in Los Angeles, California. They both fell in love with the LA life and were constantly inspired by the style and essence that is seen in LA. In 2011 they decided to team up and create 11:11 Los Angeles a brand that would be launched in Lima, Peru their native country. 11:11 Los Angeles will specialize on contemporary women’s apparel and accessories, for fashion forward savvy women. Andrea and Maite share a fresh and fearless aesthetic. They believe in individuality, creating perfect timeless & effortless fashion pieces.
So off I went brainstorming and came up with a simple but powerful concept. Black and white were the colors agreed on that would make the logo bold and fierce and a clean looking font with enough power to stand out by its own. We did a couple of corrections on the font and placing and we we're done!

I had such an amazing time working with these awesome ladies and continue to be amazed at everything that they are doing (on their own) and everything they've accomplished in such a short time. So thank you so much Andrea and Maite for letting me help you grow your already amazing brand and I'm excited to see where this journey is going to take you.

If you want to know more about 11:11 Los Angeles or want to keep in touch with to get the inside scoop please follow them on Facebook11:11 Los Angeles Facebook and make sure to follow their instagram account to find out more about whats going on behind the scenes and other goodness at @1111losangeles.

Ps. How gorgeous is their model? I mean geez louise I sure wish I looked like her ;)

Oh hi flowers!

I've been in a floral high lately and I tell ya I ain't complaining. I find myself feeling a little bit happier, merrier and cheerful when I see those pretty patterns or smell those awesome scents. I feel the need to incorporate them to my everyday life and that's exactly what my summer mission is. (Well, more like summer somewhere else in the world. It's been raining like crazy around here but I won't let that get me down).

Flowers really do make me happy.
What makes you happy lately?

Baby Haul

So we've been all feeling a little under the weather around here for the last couple of weeks. But last week it suddenly the broke out and turned into severe ear and throat infection, food poisoning and the flu. I can't even begin to tell you how miserable we were. We had to take turns taking each other for a couple of days when the boy called in sick and after that it was all me during working hours. To top it all off (because that's not enough right?) the weather was at its shittiest and was raining and crazy windy so the option of going out was pretty much banned. Yes people, we stayed indoors for a whopping 7 straight days and by the end of it we where bouncing off walls and doing/saying some crazy stuff. I've never experienced cabin fever so badly before and OH.MY.GOSH. I'm so glad it's done.

We didn't do much over the weekend either though we did go out for a bit on Saturday while it was sunny and warm in the afternoon and then was back to the nasty weather so by monday morning I decided we needed to get out no matter what. No joke, I thought of every bad scenario and they all sounded better than staying in. So off we went to the mall (the great outdoors huh? at least we were out of the house) for a little mother-daughter time.

As soon as we got to the mall I could feel my whole mindset change. I felt better and brighter and happier and turned over to catch my little one with her beautiful eyes wide open soaking it all in. We went to a toy store, flipped though books and magazines, eat a double chocolate cookie and decided we needed to do some shopping.

The little red satchel we bought at Zara Baby and the mustard bow at a little jewellery shop at 50% off, how cute are they? Then it was mama's turn and we headed over to MAC where I bought the loveliest nude lipstick I've been eyeing for a while now. It seems that it's been raved about everywhere (beauty gurus on youtube and I guess it's/was Miley Cyrus favorite shade, not that I'm a fan of hers or anything but for all of you Hannah Montana fans... there you go). So that was exciting to cross of my list.* I also got MAC's pro long-wear concelaer which is my HG concealer. I'm a NC35 in their foundation but got a NC30 to cover and highlight a little bit and blah blah blah I'm sorry about all this nobody-cares-information but I sure love me some makeup.

Anyways besides the shopping which is always nice, it was so nice and pleasant to soak up the sun take a long walk and just hang out with the little one. She sure is a handful when we go out but normally has a great attitude and is a great companion too. I sure wish I could spend every day like this, more than anything but that's not going to happen soon so I treasure this little outings even more and long for them like there's no tomorrow.

How was your weekend? and since we are already mid-week, what are your plans for this upcoming one?

*Yes people I actually have a MAC lipstick wishlist that is well over 15 shades now

Hint Hint, guys!

Let's speak the truth ladies. There's always an excuse to pamper ourselves and NEVER under any circumstances will a gift not be appreciated and well received. Especially if you happen to be a mother. After lots and lots of long days picking up after the kiddo, folding clothes for hours on end and finding old cereal everywhere I look after I clearly spent the last two hours sweeping the only thing I personally want to do is relax and enjoy the hell out of the most mundane things. I go online and cruise around shops like net-a-porter, Kate Spade and Neiman Marcus and daydream about owning maybe half of all the stuff I see. Granted I would probably never wear some of what I see there but it's always nice to have that option. I mean come on, the woman that says she doesn't do that is totally lying.

So today I thought I'd help you out. You might want to save this image and "accidentally" text it to your clueless Mr, or save it in that special Pinterest board that screams WISHLIST to ensure you're not going to get kitchen appliances for mother's day (How annoying is that by the way? Except if you like baking and cooking and stuff. In that case I guess it's fine. Not that I know). Or maybe you'll find the motivation you'll need to treat yourself to something nice for this special date.

In any case this is what the world's best mom deserves (Aren't we all? *wink wink*)

1. This adorable silk floral blouse from Amrag. Because you have to look super stylish while you pick cheerios out of your hair right?

2. THE best lipstick ever. I love red and pink shades from chanel lipsticks. So classy and grown up.

3. Daisy Eau So Fresh by Marc Jacobs had the regular housewife in mind when he designed it. After all you have to hide the lack of deodorant /shower when you go out in a rush with a screaming toddler.

4. A comfy pair of strappy sandals are a mom's best friend.

5. My personal favorite makeup item besides foundation is marcara. When I don't have time to go through my makeup routine I go for those two items. Why wouldn't you want to feel like a million bucks while you change diapers?

6. Last but not least. A scented candle I've been lusting over. Because there's no better scenario after the kids are asleep than a quiet house, a yummy smell and a good book.

It's not a bad thing to splurge in yourself or have the Mr. splurge in you from time to time. Being a super woman isn't easy and we deserve it ladies!

These are a few of my favorite things

Happy late Valentines to you all, how was your day? I got to spend some time with my girlie and headed out for a fancy dinner/movie date night with my man and today we're re making my pink pancake recipe for breakfast because, why not? I'm so happy that I got to spend this special day with my two favorite people!

Besides my little family these are some of my favorite things:

To think about: Theres nothing more inspiring that coming across a nice quote when you need it the most. This week has been pretty rough to say the least but pretty words like that can make my mood make a 180 degree spin and make me feel so much better!
To wear: Atlantic-Pacific does it again! I swear this woman is my fashion soulmate. Every time I see her new outfit I think "Ahh! Why didn't I think about that before?"
To decorate: Everyone that knows me is aware of my undying love for all things ombré. I know I know that trend is so last season for a lot of you but in my heart it is still going strong.
To party: I find balloons to be so "meh" lately. Same boring colors for the same boring parties. I sure would love to have pretty balloons like that floating around my house every day of the week. Gold makes me happy.
To eat: Almost to pretty to eat it right? A cake is always a great way to say I love you and this one just screams it. I love the romantic feel the flowers and all that pink give to it.

What are your favorite things right now?
